My First Mini Review: P.S. I Still Love You, Shatter Me

This is a spoiler free review.

Sometimes there are books I read where I don’t have too much to say about it. In these cases I would love to still share my opinions through mini reviews!

2 bookP.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han
Genre: Contemporary
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Via Goodreads

Lara Jean didn’t expect to really fall for Peter.
She and Peter were just pretending. Except suddenly they weren’t. Now Lara Jean is more confused than ever.
When another boy from her past returns to her life, Lara Jean’s feelings for him return too. Can a girl be in love with two boys at once?

In this charming and heartfelt sequel to the New York Times bestseller To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, we see first love through the eyes of the unforgettable Lara Jean. Love is never easy, but maybe that’s part of what makes it so amazing.

my thoughts

PS. I Still Love You is the second book in the Lara Jean series and for me, it was a disappointment. I absolutely loved the first book To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before; it was cute, funny, and the dialogue was great. In this second book I felt that it lacked depth. The characters were underdeveloped and even more so, the plot was lacking; nothing  really happened. In addition, the dialogue fell short and lacked substance. With that said, I did still enjoy reading about the family dynamic in the story and about Lara Jean’s friendship with Chris. And although I had some problems with how Peter and Lara Jean, I still enjoyed reading about them. I probably have a bias in my rating as I really loved the first book. I’m excited for the third book! I’m so excited to fall in love with the characters again ❤

August Wrap Up// ft. The Current Most Talked About Series

Hi everyone! I recently returned from vacation and I’m back to blogging. ❤ School has also started for me which means balancing reading, blogging, and school. I think I underestimated the amount of time school and extra curriculars take; so during the school year I will try my best to post at least once a week. Today’s post is my August Wrap Up, sorry for the late post!

Books I Read

I read the same (well, basically the same) number of books as last month. I feel that since I read around four books a month during the summer, I’ll probably read two books a month during the school year. Although I would love to read more, I’m a slow reader, so I guess that means my TBR will never get smaller 🙂 😂 If I read (or average) two books per month for the rest of this year, I’ll be very happy!

Spoiler Free or Spoiler Filled Reviews: Which Do You Prefer?

Hey everyone! As you are reading this I am on vacation 😊.

Today I want to discuss book reviews and their format.

Whether it’s occasionally or frequently, most book bloggers post reviews- and I’ve seen them in different formats. Most of the ones I read are spoiler free and talk about the book in a broader sense, giving readers their overall impression. However, I’ve also seen reviews where bloggers talk about the specific contents of the book and go into more depth. Other reviews have a mix of both non-spoilers and spoilers.

Blogging Changes + Updates// ft. I’m Going on Vacation

Hey everyone! Today’s post is a short update on everything about blogging and how that might change slightly now that school is two weeks away. Let’s start!

Untitled drawing (29)

Side Note: I wrote a post yesterday called Struggles of Being a Book Blogger; I loved writing this post. It would mean a lot if you checked it out! ❤

First off, I will be going on vacation to Cuba with my family from tomorrow until next week. I’m so excited to sit outside all day under the sun and read! Hopefully I will be able to read a lot on this trip. 🙂

I likely will not have wifi in Cuba, or will have limited access. Therefore I may not be able to reply to comments right away or read many posts from other bloggers. However, I have one scheduled post and I’m trying to write another one before I leave.

Struggles of Being a Book Blogger// Too Much Focus on Numbers, Finding Balance, and More

I love reading and book blogging. It is a part of my daily routine and I’m so happy that it is ❤️ . But of course, blogging is time consuming and at times can be overwhelming. So today I thought I would share some reading and blogging related things that sometimes overwhelm me; and I would love the hear your thoughts as well! I’m sure book bloggers can all relate to the fun we have while blogging but also to the hard work it takes!

Too Much Focus on the Numbers (and feeling down when a post doesn’t do well according to statistics)

I love to blog because I love to read and write about my thoughts. However, I also love to have discussions and would like to have a (small) impact on my readers. Often times this leads to me putting too much focus on statistics.

I don’t think looking at numbers is necessarily a bad thing as this is a good way to track your blog’s audience and growth. However, the success of a blog is not purely in the numbers, it’s also about if you enjoy it! Focusing on numbers can be frustrating; I’m sure many bloggers can relate to when a post they loved writing doesn’t get as many views and interactions as they hoped 😫. Every comment means so much to me!

Similarly, as a book blogger, there can be a pressure to read more books, to focus on the numbers. Reading is something book bloggers absolutely love doing but it can be stressful when thinking about the number of books you’ve read and need to read. This one is difficult to discuss because when it comes down to it, it is true that bloggers who read more books have a higher chance of reaching a wider audience. However, I feel that it is important for us to make sure reading is always a passion and that it never feels like a chore!

Keeping Up with Other Blogs (and discovering new blogs)

Interacting with others is a great part of blogging. It is fun way to be informed and share opinions. Blog hopping is also something I love to do because it’s an amazing way to meet new people. But this can take up a lot of time! Reading and commenting on other blog posts can take just as long as writing a post, and the pressure of this can be overwhelming. I try to read blog posts of the people I follow as well as from blog hopping. I also see many other bloggers who always comment on the posts of others which is so amazing! I just wish I had the time to read more blogs 😭.

Keeping Up With Other Social Media

Many bloggers today have social media accounts such as Instagram and Twitter to reach a wider audience. Again, this can be time consuming and stressful! Social media for many bloggers is not their first priority, however, a good following these platforms can help a blog’s following.

I have a Twitter account and I envy the bloggers who are able to post daily creative tweets. I also have a Bookstagram (although I haven’t been posting lately) and wow it takes so long to take photos and edit them! Book bloggers spend so much time to post creative content on these platforms. Please go support more bloggers on their social media!

Finding Balance

In conclusion, although it may be overlooked, blogging takes up a lot of time and energy. Blogging not only includes writing posts, it also includes reading, commenting on other blogger’s posts, posting on social media, and more. On top of this, many bloggers do not blog as their full time job. Therefore, it can be very difficult to find balance between blogging and the other important aspects of a day. I’ve been blogging for three months now and even now it is still difficult for me to make sure I’m not reading and writing 24/7. It is important to take breaks, even it is from something you love. Finding balance is key to sustaining a passion! 🙂

Let’s discuss in the comments! Do you relate to any of these struggles of a book blogger? Do you put too much focus on numbers? Do you have social media? If you do, does it take up a lot of your time? How do you find balance between blogging and other passions?

Thank you for reading,
